I am a singer/songwriter. At present, my band consists of me and my guitar.
I am a singer/songwriter. I have been singing and playing the guitar as long as I can remember. I write about love, life and anything else thats sent my way. If even for a moment, I can make you laugh, cry, reflect, remember or just forget the troubles of your day, then I have succeeded as a songwriter.

Story behind the song
2 things influenced the writing of this song - 1 - a songwriting challenge to write a song using the line , "you had to be there" 2 -a friend always used the term "back in the day" when recollecting old times.. I never used that phase... so I was motivated to write a song using the phrase .. The 2 challenges merged with this lyric. Thinking back on the "old days", was it really as good as the memory recalls, or does time soften those memories?
Lyrics
Back in the Day ©2005 Joanne Lurgio/BMI V1 Slowly she walks ‘cross the worn gravel drive The gate, off it’s hinge, slams closed in her mind The sign on the tree reads, “no one allowed” Back in the day there was always a crowd V2 Sisters for life; crossed their hearts hoped to die Sat ‘neath that tree, shared their heart’s deep desires Singing, “who will we marry; what will we be?” Back in the day life was so carefree CH It was oh, so easy It was oh, so light Back in the day every thing felt so right But, I guess you had to be there V3 They looked past the innocent eyes of the child Ran through the fields of young dreams growing wild Ready to face what the world held in store Back in the day they couldn’t wait for more CH It was oh, so easy It was oh, so light Back in the day every thing felt so right But, I guess you had to be there Bridge Bittersweet is the wine When the dreams we hold And the dreams of old collide. V4 Gently the branch on that willow does bend She smiles in the breeze as her mem’ries transcend Swiftly the tide turned away from the shore Back in the day life was simple and pure Back in the day Remember, back in the day
