Story behind the song
Abbaye de Beaulieu, Ginals (Beaulieu Abbey) The solid but abandoned former abbey of Beaulieu, on the river La Seye at Ginals,Quercy, France, has been restored and now holds a major modern art collection. It is not difficult to visualise the Religious of the Abbey at work and at prayer in the meadows, the pools and the abbey chruch. I was going to pull every cliche out here: angelic choirs, bells, pipe organs, mediaeveal/Crusades period mingled with later...but the initial run through sounded so good on its own that I've kept it simple. This is is two parts, intended to be split up on the CD and appearing in two places, so listeners can give up at 2mn 50s with a clear conscience.
