Legend has ir tha s fiddler in Arkansea was playing theis song when a rtaveler stopped to listen. H e aske d the fiddler why he was only playing the first part of the song? The fiddler replied if you show me the second half of the song I'll play thet too. So the reaveler played the second half of the tune for the giddler and left traveling to other parts of th coutry, thus the title "Arkansas Traveler".
