With more than 300 songs and counting and for more than 30 years, I have written in a variety of acoustic styles from novelty tunes to love songs to historical ballads to poetic surrealistic songs to retro-acoustic pop. From bizarre to traditional from funny to poignant, whatever style the song is in, the melodies are usually memorable and the lyrics unpredictable. This site will eventually contain rough often first take demos of my entire song catalogue. Many of the earliest songs when I first started writing will of course be shaky. So expect the songs to get better as time goes on. Feel free to come back and browse often as I will constantly be adding songs, one by one in chronological order, starting in 1974. If you are looking for some unusual songs to cover from a little known but unique artist, you have come to the right place. Just e-mail me. If you find a song here that intrigues you, but you don't like a line or two, or you think it needs a bridge, drop me an e-mail and maybe you can earn writer's credit if it gets that song to be recorded or performed.... otherwise just enjoy. You can become a Rob Lincoln fan at no cost to you. I promise that if you keep coming back there will be some real surprises along the way. While mostly acoustic, some original material will veer into folk rock and even 60's pop, but the garage rock and loudest material will also be found in full band arrangement at soundclick.com/abrasiveflowers Eventually some of these 300+ tunes may be rerecorded and make it on to CD, including a novelty CD that would be suitable for Dr. Demento or an historical ballad CD or a political song CD--but until then, this is the only site you can hear most of these songs. (A few of my songs CAN be found on songramp.com/RobLincoln and myspace.com/lessickandlincoln)

Story behind the song
While still in two rock bands, they were beginning to wind down. This acoustic tune represents more of the genre I would mostly be writing in for the rest of the 80's. This specific song was about someone I knew a very long time ago. She used to drink Bloody Marys for breakfast. Hopefully, she has kicked that habit since then...wherever she may be. Mp3 listeners gave this a 3.6... Some listeners' comments were: "A Winter's Day is a 5!!! I'm curious to see what others think" "A most unusual lyric in that second verse" "I really liked the feel, and it started out very promising, I liked the first verse alot, but needs some rewrite" "This is a good presentation..... It's a 4 to 5, by me. Just add some small ear candy ovedubs.... some light percussion goodies, very light!""I didn't get it" "nice hook, but that's it" "Sounded like your voice was a little uneven. But...I liked this song very much! It feels like a song from the 70's. I don't think anyone writes songs like this anymore. This is my kind of music so I'd give it a 4."
Lyrics
You were a waitress waiting for love To dull the pain that you felt within you Which you attributed to a common cause That you seemed to know how not to explain And had you come on a winter's day, a winter's day You'd be throwing snowballs through my rain You gave me a sausage that you purchased with Orville Redenbachers that you left unpopped I was in heaven at the bus stop But you brought me down to Earth throwin' your windows at my rocks And had you come on a winter's day, a winter's day You'd be throwing snowballs through my rain I missed you sincerely through the confusion Thought you were my good friend, was it an illusion? Or were you trying to tell me something about mountains and catterpillars that I could not simply understand? (Still don't) But had you come on a winter's day, a winter's day You'd be throwing snowballs through my rain So this is our story, there is no moral It is not a love fable, but a love foible But there were six hours in that rainy Sunday And that is where my memories will remain And had you come on a winter's day, a winter's day You'd be throwing snowballs through my rain Had you come on a winter's day, a winter's day You'd be throwing snowballs through my rain
