Put A Candle In The Window
No band, just me solo
I somewhat taught myself to play the guitar 4 years ago and it seemed only natural to try to write my own material. I now have over 100 original songs.
Story behind the song
As an ex soldier I decided to write a song for those who's job calls them to a land far away
Lyrics
Put A Candle In The Window
The day that we got married, I swore I'd never leave
But this situations taken me away
To a place where I'm not wanted, to a place I just can't leave
Cause my job it just ain't over here today
Chorus
So put a candle in the window, tie a ribbon round a tree
Light a guiding beacon, for only my heart to see
Though we may be miles apart, I know that I can make it here alone
Keep the love light burning, cause in my dreams, tonight I'm coming home...
When the darkness falls upon me, and I lay me down to rest
I pray dear Jesus, keep me safe from harm
Then I drift off to a fortress, where the bullets never fly,
And in the place I'll hold you in my arms
Chorus
If you ever start to wonder, If I might go astray
If those feelings of doubt should ever start
I haven't forgotten, those vows we said that day
And I keep that promise safe here in my heart...
Chorus
