Story behind the song
I was listening to the new Christina Aguilera album and I was inspired to make a beat that sounded like a DJ Premier classic. I first made the Playhouse beat (for more info on that go to its story), then I wanted to make another one. As I was walking to the studio to produce the beat I put the new DJ Hi-tek album in my CD player. The album kinda pissed me off. There were some good songs (i.e. the one with Q-tip, Ghostface, and the ones without rappers), and then there were a lot of wack ass songs. I liked the old Hi-Tek stuff and it wasn't the mainstream rappers that fucked up the new album... it was the beats. So I go into the studio with a chip on my shoulder and I decide to freak this beat up something fresh. I cut the Al Green sample and then add some sampled live drums. I tried set the drum pattern to sound like BIggie's Kick in the Door but that wasn't working so I kept it simple. I added an old school Hi-Tek bass and a filtered conga to keep the track jumping. I played the keys and reverse orchestra parts. I added a reverb on the vocal samples to add a J Dilla vibe to the track. After the song was finished, I listened to it and knew it was going to be a hit. This is noow my favorite beat that I did. Whoever has the most money can get the track.
