River Bottom Rock
Wow! It's hard to write about the Brazos Brothers without also talking about the Brazos River. The river begins in New Mexico. Then, in West Texas, we have the Double Mountain Fork, Running Water Fork and, what gave that Brazos coffee its great taste, the Salt Fork. Too bad we can't drink the water anymore. Just as the waters of the river are varied, so are the Brazos Brothers songs. Since we have played music together and individually in various other settings for longer than I care to admit, folk, rock, country and a little jazz are all in there. In 1986, Jack Stephenson, Rocky Randall and Garry Spradlin formed SRS Music with the intent of writing music strictly for sale to other artists. By the time I paddled alongside, they had two or three minnow buckets full of tunes. With the addition of my bass guitar, and the pedal steel in the studio, the performance side of the music began to emerge. After hearing some of our "rough cuts", another brother from way back upstream invited us to his recording studio, Rockhouse Studio, to record a few songs and see how they sounded under better conditions. We recorded two CD's but only released the last one, "Harmony Road". Since the release of the “Harmony Road” CD, drummer Steve Hardin has come aboard to keep the time, add more punch to the bottom and hopefully, keep bringing the whiskey. We invite you also to come aboard and go with us as we drift past the sandbars, willow trees and sunsets of life's river, that flows always toward the deeper pool of water.

Story behind the song
Inspired by those TV ads using a drop dead foxxy girl trying to get lonely guys to call and talk, for a fee of course.
Lyrics
Vapor locked on the freeway of love You come along and jump-start my heart All I needed was a push and a shove Now I know you’re the missing part 1 900 L O V E Punch your number got nothing to do If I call would you talk to me Wish I could connect with you Tired and lonely dialing for love Busy signal from dial-a-date Sick of feeling like a lonesome dove Phone’s a ringing’ I can’t wait Watching TV and I caught your hype Now we’re talking on the telephone You said goodbye your not my type Better off talking to that old dial tone chorus I just sat and stared at the wall Wish I knew someone to call Felt so bad I was all alone That’s when I dialed you on the Love Phone
