Story behind the song
New laws are designed for women in this new age of equality, but the men always suffer - so much for equality!
Lyrics
My wife left me by some crazy law, kept the kids, my house and all. I only had the clothes I wore. I'm on the streets - not fair at all. I worked for years to pay the bills Loved her true, each day until-- she found out from her best friend, split-up families were the trend. Chorus: In ragged clothes and worn-down shoes, from walking streets and much abuse, I needed help. I could not lose, the life I had with worn-out blues. She lost her man, don't brush her hair. She finds it tough, no-one to care. Her clothes were ragged, but not her views. She found a friend in worn-out blues. I needed someone to share some time. We get along, that suits me fine. We walked together, nothing to hide. She says, in her I can confide. With my ragged clothes and worn-down shoes, could this be some female ruse? The only things that I could lose.... were my pride and worn-out blues. She took me home and listened well, the same old story others tell. She had a roof and I had none, a better life has now begun
