A song about a high-school sweetheart. Funny thing is, I don't even know a Lori.

I write all kinds of music from gospel to country, comedy to childrens songs as well as instrumentals. I play guitar (acoustic and lead) and sing with a count
I was born in the mid 1950's, and began playing guitar when I was 14 years old. I have played with many of the early (70's & 80's)country singers. I wrote my first song when I was 15 and now have over 120, from gospel to country. I love the challenge of writing a song that people can relate to, yet to say it in a brand new way. I play with a local group called Common Bond and jam whenever I can find some others pickers.

Lyrics
1 She was the cutest girl in highschool, but she'd never given me a second glance, I figured this shy country boy, didn't stand much of a chance. But then one night in our little church I heard the words the pastor preached, He told us how God answers prayer, so I got down on my knees. Chorus And I prayed Lord please let Lori fall in love with me, Somehow could You show her, I'm the one who'll give her, The kind of love she will always need. Lord give me the words to say so she can plainly see, I'm so in love with Lori, Lord let Lori fall in love with me. 2 Many weeks had come and gone and I guess that I had almost given up, I thought my heart was gonna break to think she would never know my love. But right out of the blue she asked, my car broke down, could you take me home? Nearly shouted hallellujah when she said you're the nicest guy I've known. Bridge We talked the afternoon away, I felt as if I'd known her my whole life, That's been several years ago, and I thank God cause Lori's now my wife. Lyrics and music: Doug York (c) 2006
