I write all kinds of music from gospel to country, comedy to childrens songs as well as instrumentals. I play guitar (acoustic and lead) and sing with a count
I was born in the mid 1950's, and began playing guitar when I was 14 years old. I have played with many of the early (70's & 80's)country singers. I wrote my first song when I was 15 and now have over 120, from gospel to country. I love the challenge of writing a song that people can relate to, yet to say it in a brand new way. I play with a local group called Common Bond and jam whenever I can find some others pickers.

Lyrics
The letter came last Friday, somehow I didn't see, I read it then realized it's for our friend across the street. He told her in his letter, it was time for him to go, He said he'd fallen in love with someone else, You know sometimes you just don't know. He said he'd help her with the kids, Send them money now and then. He didn't want to be tied down, or live a lie like this again. He said that he'd quit loving her, many years ago, I thought their love would last forever, You know sometimes you just don't know. I had to take her that letter and hope she would believe, That I hadn't read the things he wrote, how that he had planned to leave. I put that letter in my pocket and prayed my feelings wouldn't show, Can I find the words to comfort her? You know sometimes you just don't know. I knocked on her door, they were crying as I walked in, She said thanks so much for coming, it's nice to know we have good friends. I guess you heard about his wreck today, it sure came as quite a blow, He never had the time to say goodbye, You know sometimes you just don't know. I threw that letter in my fireplace, And watched the truth go up in smoke, Did I do the right thing? You know sometimes you just don't know. Lyrics and music: Doug York (c) 2006
