Story behind the song
The lyric tells of how God knew that His Son would pay for our sins even as He was creating us. The question, "What Kind Of Love is This?" is rehtorical. The point is that we cannot fully understand God's love until we stand before Him in Heaven.

With the evil around us so often we ask, · could a righteous God offer grace to man? · But do we really know love, can our hearts understand, · with the span of our lives just a few grains of sand.
