Lyrics
They walked him through the streets wrapped in chains
for his sins.
And the mayor opened up the cell and the govenor
pushed him in.
The jailor said 'I'll pray for, tell me your name."
He said "Thanks but just the same,
There's a strong storm coming,
gonna carry me far away for here."
Mary, dressed in silk, dressed in bells,
Came up to see.
When the jailor looked away, in her kiss
she hid the key.
She said "Unlock the door, come on let's go."
He said "Thanks but don't you know,
There's a strong storm coming,
Gonna carry me far away from here."
When the hangman came a calling, he was kneeling
Praying at the clouds.
So the hang, well he grabbed him, dragged him out
To face the crowds.
The crowds said "Hang him, hang him high!"
He said "Don't you know bye and bye,
There's a strong storm coiming
gonna carry me far away from here."
