Hi folks. I have added a lot of videos recently. Please take a look!
Hi folks, This site acts as a personal archive of my work. So you'll find my best recordings here as well as some pretty crappy ones. The earliest recordings here were made on simple cassette decks, others were made on mobile phones, some are live recordings made at various gigs over the years, a handful were made in small recording studios, but most of the more recent ones were made at home on a Zoom portable studio, which itself is now rather ancient! If you like a song and want to download it, click on 'Full song info' for that song and you will see the download link. You can also read the lyrics and any background information on the songs that I may have added. All my music is available for free - enjoy :) cheers, Charles

Story behind the song
The song is dedicated to my Scottish friend Tristram Stuart simply because he liked it so much. The recording comes from 1970 when Tris and myself and a bunch of other students and hippies lived in this wonderful old mansion called Nanteos near Aberystwyth in Wales. It was a fabulous time. We had the run of the house when it wasn't open to the public. It had extensive grounds with lakes and woods and was a great place to trip out - which we did! Rather often! There are lots of stories about that place. Wagner stayed there once, it was haunted by at least three ghosts, and at one time it was believed the Holy Grail was kept there! One night Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin fame stopped by for a smoke and I played him this song - without having any idea who he was - Tris didn't tell me till later :) For more details see: http://www.bbc.co.uk/wales/mid/sites/weird/pages/nanteos.shtml I lost touch with Tris years ago by the way - and it would be nice to hook up again - so if anyone knows where he is please put me in touch!
Lyrics
Did you hear about Martin Luther King? He's going to grow a beard like Ho Chi Minh Prophesy what the world will be But I'm getting pretty tired of you Well I'm writing a song so you will believe me Dum dum doo dee um - dum dum doo dee um Jimmy and John won't cotton on this song Yes I know what you're trying to do But I don't know what you're trying to prove Show me a light in your windowpane Cook me up an Irish stew Bring in a friend and harmonise quietly Dum dum doo dee um - dum dum doo dee um Wait for the break - make it a gayer day Doo dah dum dee um dum etc..... Well it's a very clever anagram A cryptographer might understand Geophysical surveys show that there's oil in Waterloo Hum it along and you will feel happy Mmm mmm mmm Dreaming all day - I just want to stay this way....
