Artist picture
Singer/Songwriter in the tradition of classic country artists. A little humor and a whole lot of heart.
I've been writing songs since 1974. Over the past few years, I've participated in open mic's whenever possible and have become active in the Nashville Songwriters Association International ("NSAI").

Story behind the song
I was actually having a conversation with a lady across the Internet when I observed that she "reminded me of someone that I never knew" .... and a song was born.
Lyrics
YOU REMIND ME OF SOMEONE 1ST VERSE: Here I am at forty Looking back and wondering what's ahead They say that life begins now But at times it seems the world's left me for dead And here you stand before me Looking deep into my eyes Your heart longs for true love And wonders where it lies With masked determination I offer no disguise CHORUS: You tell me that you love me And you hope to hear that I could love you too You say that you can trust me But trust me that ain't something you should do You're such a lovely lady Any man would surely love to be with you But you remind me of someone That I never knew 2ND VERSE: She was gonna save me Back when I was gonna save the world Between us we could handle Any challenge life it ever could have hurled But when I wasn't looking Someone slipped into her heart All good tragedies employ a fool And so I played my part And when it all was ended I was left with nothing left with which to start CHORUS: ©John Tolley All Rights Reserved
