Lyrics
DON'T LET THE KIDS GET IN THE EGGNOG
Vocal by Dave Brooks
recorded at The Gator Hole
(verse)
It's grandpa's homemade recipe
First whipped some up in '53
Had a party planned for Christmas Eve
And he needed good stuff
So he went up to the hospital
Where the interns kept the ethanol
And a guy could buy a bathtub full
If he paid 'em enough
Well he made a batch of eggnog up for Christmas
He swallered some and yelled out to the missus
And he told grandma:
(chorus)
Don't let the kids get in the eggnog
That stuff's about one-eighty proof
They'll think there's reindeer on the roof
And fairies dancin' on the Yule log
Don't let the kids get in the eggnog
(verse)
The guests stood 'round while grandpa spoke
Exciting stories and silly jokes
And grandma walked around to folks
And she refilled their cups
The kids had gingerbread to munch
And washed it down with Kool-Aid punch
But pert near ten, the eggnog bunch
Were goin' bottoms up
Well, it knocked out half the people on the guestlist
The ER doctor had to call a speciallist
And he told grandma:
(repeat chorus)
(bridge)
That recipe got passed along
And we still make it just as strong
A little egg, a lot of nog on Christmas day
I always test it first and say:
(repeat chorus)
