Story behind the song
I am playing with the concept that the devil can manipulate sound to make people do dumb things. I remember seeing one of those cheesy afterschool specials or something where a guy did a bunch of LSD and jumped in front of a train cause he thought he could stop it. Sometimes people do make those kind of mistakes when they get high.
Lyrics
the devil's call No Capo E G D A There was a legend I heard as a boy and one day when I thought I found a brand new toy it called to me from way over yonder a voice that sounded a lot like thunder I started to walk into the path of a train as lightning flashed and it began to rain My Cousin Mark he knocked me to the ground and said CHORUS D A boy don't you know what you found it's not a place it's a sound (hold on A) it's not a place at all E G D A you heard the devils call many years later I had a full life I had a bunch of friends and we were high as kite My friend Tommy Said look over yonder I think I hear my name in thunder Tommy started to walk to the edge of the ridge he was trying to cross that washed out bridge I remembered as I knocked him to the ground I said Tommy don't you know what you found CHorus out ©2005 Kaddylack Whopper Music (ASCAP)
