Singer/Songwriter in the tradition of classic country artists. A little humor and a whole lot of heart.
I've been writing songs since 1974. Over the past few years, I've participated in open mic's whenever possible and have become active in the Nashville Songwriters Association International ("NSAI").

Lyrics
WRITTEN BY A SEVENTEEN YEAR OLD IN JUNE 1ST VERSE: Graduate, now that you're out of school Now comes the time when you play the fool I hope you know what you want to do You've got everything that we can give and now it's up to you And we know you won't let us down 2ND VERSE: Graduate, which college did you choose Oh yeah, remember I'm alumni I don't want to see you lose Keep up the grades so we can all keep face I know no son of mine is gonna be a disgrace And we pray you won't let us down CHORUS: Graduate, you're out of high school now You got the straight A's number one in your class Graduate, you're going to my school now Brings back the old days, the years go by so fast 3RD VERSE: Graduate, what are you going to be Play your cards right you'll be just like me Give you a job in the company A few short years and you can be VP And you know then you can't let me down 4TH VERSE: Graduate, what do you mean by no more I'll take the keys to your new car if you dare walk out the door Listen here, Son, I don't like your attitude Your generation doesn't know the meaning of gratitude And here you go letting me down CHORUS: 5TH VERSE: Graduate goes off and finds his father's gun Leaves a note to be read after the deed is done He fires once and his life is through The note reads simply, "Dad, I'm sorry but I'm not you And I sure don't want to let you down" ©John Tolley All Rights Reserved
