Led by the powerful vocals of Genie Gratto, Stranger Things creates blues-based, funk-laced, fast-paced rock 'n' roll, combining strong original music with new arrangements of popular tunes in a set that is both driving and danceable. The band derives its signature sound from the dynamic guitar playing of Ralph Marzlak and Kris Domich, underpinned by the rock-solid groove of bassist Chris Smith and drummer Chris Meyer. The band also enjoys frequent guest appearances from virtuoso keyboardist Tom White of local rockers Jack Left Town. Stranger Things includes several prolific songwriters among its members, and is focused on generating original music that is both powerful and fun to groove to. The band’s originals highlight the rich variety of influences and musical styles that members have to draw on, with roots stretching deep into the blues, funk, alternative, psychedelic and grrl rock genres, just to name a few. At the same time, the band also draws on its members’ diverse tastes to round out its sets with exciting new interpretations of both popular and obscure covers, from Sheryl Crow and Garbage to Jimi Hendrix and the Grateful Dead and beyond. In its current incarnation, the band has been together since June 2002.
