Based off of 2 Cor. 5:14. It's interesting that Paul doesn't say 'I am compelled to share the gospel by my love for people.' He says 'The love of Christ compels me.' CCLI# 4877671

Contemporary hymns and new worship music
CONTEMPORARY HYMNS AND NEW WORSHIP MUSIC These are acoustic worship songwriting demos with chords sheets. IF YOU'RE A SINGER, BAND, OR WORSHIP LEADER/PASTOR, FEEL FREE TO USE these modern hymns and worship songs in live settings, and to reproduce lyric sheets for Power Point, overhead transparency, or whatever you use. THE MODERN HYMN MOVEMENT: The recent explosion of contemporary hymns and inroads made into churches by Indelible Grace, Stuart Townend, Keith and Kristyn Getty and other modern hymn writers has done wonders for reminding us of the relevance of old hymns and turning again to new hymns crafted in old literary patterns that expressed theological truths in ways that many modern song-constructs cannot follow. I work in this tradition, writing deeply theological worship songs that can be adapted for various musical genres, while presenting the gospel in the depth that hymns are famous for. Click the "Lyrics/story tab next to each song on my MP3 music page for chords, as well as a list of themes/liturgical settings for each song and CCLI #s. YOU CAN ALSO DOWNLOAD OVERHEAD TRANSFER SHEETS, chord sheets, and lyrics to some of these songs by looking up my name in the Artist List of these two sites: Just send me a note letting me know who/where you are -- I'd like to know! .

Story behind the song
A SONG FOR THE SENDING/DEDICATION/BENEDICTION: I realize this one is not very hymn-ish -- it's pretty much a straight modern worship sound, or at least it would be with a full band. But anyway, the verse meter is 8-7-8-7, and I have a pre-chorus that's 7-7-7-7, followed by an unmetered chorus. It's based off 2 Cor. 5:14. I wanted to write something that you don't hear much of in church music: a call to action -- to love, to serve, to rescue orphans, comfort the sick and lame, remember those in prison, reach out to those of other cultures and races, fight corruption, and speak to those held captive in spiritual chains. And I wanted to write it from a Biblical context, which meant writing it about Christ: His work, His death and resurrection, and the promise of His return, along with the promise that His Spirit would work in us until that return, so the "gates of hell" will not prevail against us.
Lyrics
G D G/B C Lord who rescues orphaned children, G D Am D Lord who comforts sick and lame, G D G/B C Lord who pardons those in prison Am Em C D When they call upon Your name: C Em Give us all a heart like Yours C D Give us all a heart like Yours C Em Broken for the lost and poor D C D Give us all a heart like Yours G Em C D Jesus, Your love compels us, Em Makes us want to go C Makes us want to go G Em C D To carry peace to a cold, rock-bottom world ...
