After spending a wasted youth performing in bands and as a solo artist, I'm currently only interested in songwriting and recording. OK, if you get me a little tipsy, or there's some money waved before my eyes, maybe my iron resolve will waver ... I'm only human, y'know?

Story behind the song
My brother Craig and I used to analyze country songs, and we had a fine appreciation for a drinking song even back when we were in our 20s. Merle Haggard was probably the model for this one.
Lyrics
I don't think that I'll ever forget her, If I drink every bar in town dry. But I've got to escape from her memory, So I guess I'd better give it a try. Well the Bartender's giving me a dirty look, So I'd better find another saloon. I must've been in a dozen, I've got the 12-bar blues. Well, I don't know how I'm gonna feel in the morning, If I ever get up at all. But sitting at home when you're stone-cold sober, Can drive a man right up the wall. So every night I go out and I make the rounds, Of the bars, honkey-tonks and saloons, And get kicked out of a dozen I've got the 12-bar blues. BRIDGE: Well, ain't it a shame! I hear them say, To sit and watch a grown man cry. But I got no self respect, so I elect To drink another bottle of rye. Well the sun's comin' up and it's morning, But I don't give a hoot about the time. I'll just keep on a makin' my rounds, and have some more tequila and lime. There's a couple that I know I haven't hit yet, And I can't pass up a single saloon. I must've been in a dozen, I've got the 12-bar blues. Y'know it only takes a dozen to get the 12-bar blues.
