Artist picture
Blues guitarist, pianist and keyboard synth player, and composer of neo-classical music. Lead guitarist of Blues-Rock Bands.
I have been a musician - performer and composer - for close to 50 years, and I've been playing guitar for about 42 of those years. I have become mostly a player of Blues as of late and recently was invited to be the lead guitarist of a revived Blues-Rock 60's band. This picture is of me, and yes, Les Paul! And that's my Les Paul Deluxe, which I play along with my Clapton signature stratocaster.

Story behind the song
This is an original song from 1969, that I came across as I am transferring my old reel-to-reel tapes to CD. This is about a New Jersey town named "Secaucus" that has a less that illustrious history. Secaucus is a town in Hudson County, New Jersey, USA. Before the 1950s, Secaucus was home to a number of pig farms, rendering plants, and junk yards, which gave the town a reputation for being one of the most odorous in the New York metropolitan area. One day in the summer of 1969 (yeah, when others were at Woodstock and we couldn't go) myself and two friends (Keith and Bud) got together and decided we would write a song, and not only write it, but document the process of writing a song. What you'll hear here is actually the last 6 minutes or so of a full side of a reel of tape, starting from us sitting down with no words or music, and about 30 minutes later ending up with this song completed. It's amazing how quicly things can be created when people put their minds together - and it also helps that we were really having fun!!
Lyrics
Ballade Of Olde Secaucus (1969) By Jim Signorile, Keith and Bud (last names protected, even though they're not innocent!) --------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------- (Chorus, repeat after every verse) Take the bus to Secaucus. Ride the scum to the slum. Take the bus to Secaucus. It's time to have some fun. Wash your clothes on a Monday, Hang them out on the line; Let them dry in the warm Secaucus sun, And watch them cover up with slime. Slide right into Secaucus. See the black cloud hanging there. See it smother all the buildings. Surprise! That black cloud is their air. Floating pigs line the rooftops. Floating pigs fill the air. Floating pigs hang on phone lines. Floating pigs everywhere. See the Secaucus commuters. See them grovel in the dirt. See them slosh across the sidewalks As they plow their way to work. We don't mean to put down Secaucus. All those things I guess it's not. You could learn to like Secaucus. How much time have you got? Copyright 1969-2006 James V. Signorile
