Great Big Yam is all about the picnics and harvests. Rural music from rural people.
Great Big Yam is a collective and individual effort to preserve traditional American music and create songs within that tradition. From the traveling blues to the banjo breakdown to the jigs and reels native to Ireland to the African roots to folk protest songs.

Story behind the song
The three of us always enjoyed the same things different ways. And Kansas seems bad until you consider Honduras.
Lyrics
My friend, he likes his Coke in a can it just stays colder that way, you understand. And all the ladies said he was a nice young man Because he's effete, he used to be one of my best friends. But people change, you get older you have kids. And if you dodge that bullet once, you just try again. That's the way it is, the way it's always been. We all called home the land of shifting winds. My friend Dan he likes his Coke in a cup and if liquor were a river and we were diving ducks... Well, you all know the way that story goes. We've been that way all our lives and it shows. Now, myself I like my Coke in a glass. I'm just like my friends give or take a little class. And I guess being a farm boy ain't so bad. You know there's places they give you Coke in a plastic bag. And all the children in those places aren't so awfully sad.
