Story behind the song
A friend I hadn't talked to in years, called me with this story, his story. We talked for a while and when we hung up on each other, I knew there was a song here. I wrote this one with my litle brother, Keith. Hope you enjoy it.
Lyrics
You start climbing up the ladder, never knowing when to stop Pushing hard determined to make it to the top Looking back I never saw it all start going down Sometimes you're the last to know when they know all over town I threw away my daughter, I threw away my wife Guess if I'll admit it, I threw away my life Let it all slip by like satan's lucky charms I had the world and lost it, let it slip right through my arms Cho I'm down on my knees Begging, Lord help me please Let me show them, now Just one more time The daddy I can be The man inside of me If I could just get through to them somehow That I'm sober now I haven't lifted a glass in 97 days The folks who used to know me They'd think I had changed my ways But, I've made every deal with God I know I can There's two girls that need know that I can be a man
