This is an experimental song of sorts, using some unorthodox methods of producing different sounds. It certainly embodies my recent love for post-rock.

An alluring concoction of acoustic, progressive, and psychadelic/electronic direction.
There is always a moment, often right before you drift off to sleep, where everything you've ever known vanishes and you are only where your mind wanders off to. All that exists is yourself and the world, and all sadness and worry and any connection to human existance fades away. But then any sensory or physical sensation stimulates a remembrance of the "real" life you left for just that one moment. And only this one trace of other human existance inevitably and helplessly drags you back to your life of worry and sadness. But there is that one moment. This moment where you no longer even exist but are merely part of existance as a whole. To me, this is music. I will let gentle waves of sounds resonate through my body and I will feel as if I have fallen into beautiful nothingness. And eventually I will get dragged back into the burden of reality. But, even if for just one instant, I am free. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Hey, I'm Tommy. Spiral Craftwork is my own project apart from my assorted bands and projects. On this page, you will here me in most cases playing and producing everything you hear. You will mostly be hearing a mix of acoustic and psychadelic/electronic sounds.

Story behind the song
The little speech I do at the end of the song is actually the second half of some lyrics I wrote entitled "Thoughts Upon a Brushstroke." And the way I read them on the recording somehow reminded me of the way someone would speak in a eulogy. The first part of the title has a little bit of a goofy story behind it. While I was in the middle of recording this song, I went to the bathroom to take care of business, and there was a fatty spider in the bathtub next to me. It was trying to climb up the side of the bathtub, but it was too steep and the spider kept falling down. So, I decided I should help the little guy out. I put a cup next to him so he could crawl in and I'd carry him downstairs and let him out outside. But the spider didn't accept my offer and I haven't seen him since but the other day he left a string of web flying across the bathroom ceiling.
Lyrics
SPOKEN: I poured my life onto this canvas painted in black, white and grey But it only slipped through the paint and now it's all crawling down Oh, but I will let the colors bleed until I can see your love in the sky But it's all still just seeping right down off the canvas How could I ruin what once was so beautiful? From you, through me, they slipped through the fingertips, From you, through me, they slipped through the fingertips. Oh, I'll let the colors bleed until I can see your love in the sky But I'll keep on waiting as they keep on crawling down So here's what I'm left with An empty white canvas with countless shades off grey on the floor Is this what I've been waiting for? Ugly as it seems, this is where I begin Ugly as it seems, here's where I begin again
