Hi, I've been writing songs since I was twelve years old, and recording them since 1985. Roger Cook (of the Cook-Greenaway-Cook songwriting partnership and Blue Mink, etc) once wrote that I have the ability to write a hit single and that he was waiting for one from me. He also said I need to 'lighten up a bit', unquote. F*ck that!

Story behind the song
A songwriter client, Grant Leach, had finished his recording session for the day but it was only 2 a.m. and I wasn't tired. So I used part of the drum sequence we had created for his song and strummed along to it. The rest of it wrote itself, as usual. I asked the two best lead guitar players I know to have a bash at doing the lead break, but neither of them could cope with the chord changes. A fortnight later, after hours of practice every day, I had it sussed and it was in the bag. I called it 'Red Peppers' because the organ sound vaguely reminded me of 'Green Onions' by Booker T & the MG's .
