1st song written for the 2004 release 'Splinters'. This political song describes the difficult to turn around status that the Church at large and our society/world are currently in. It takes a long time to change the course of a boat this size.

I love a simplistic free life. I've experienced seasons of great freedom of space, but I'm happy planted too. I've experienced great freedom in my musical expression, but I'm happy with a collection of genres too. I've experienced great freedom in my worship, but I'm happy with the worst conservatism (in public). I've experienced great freedom in the supernatural that God has taken me through and brought to this world through me and I will never be satisfied with or succumb to complacency when it comes to the freedom afforded the Holy Spirit in my life. Roll thunder, roll.

Lyrics
Slow Boat (Joey: bass, vocals, percussion/sub; David Tyndale: drums; Philip Smiley: production, strings and sounds) There are questions in the minds the spiritually distressed, Politically oppressed, the truth appears well-dressed, Disguised at the eyes, conditioned at the ear. What you cannot see in logic, you'll have to learn in fear. Two and two more will take me to my grave Ignorant that I'm a slave, to numb to be enraged. I've everything to lose and nothing to gain Why rock the slow boat when it's all just the same. Picking on people they know won't pick back Enter a system played with ever-tightening slack Keep a smile on, while you're standing in line, Beyond the bounds of freedom, those bounds undefined Don't tread on the tyranny that fills the gray space, Accept to which you bow, is not in which your soul's based. Become a knight or pawn in the new feudalistic "free" The corporate leadership's calling: "Quickly follow me." I don't understand how they could have missed the pain, Thinking we're all the same, and the rest insane. All deserve different means and different release- I'm sure their only goal's peace, with profits' path well greased Dimensions escape them, their lies fall un-noted how quickly they forget that the real winner never gloated, Their addictions will feed, for a short age and not pass on Prophecies long foretold will be found truth at their conclusion... Inspiration on the slow boat Is the suckling juice of life We all fall building, Towards what the few dream. But is it necessary? Is it necessary to call this lie free? Even liberty?
