Story behind the song
This song just sort of happened.
Lyrics
Close your eyes All our lives Go away The dead that were once alive What was it that they strived? For us to live better lives Or to cushion their swollen prides? And all of the things that they did And all of the things that they said Cannot be taken back No, they cannot be taken back Seams and tides Stretch of light Goes away And all of the light that was lost And all of the warm that was frost And all of the different shades And space from another place They seem to be coming back To check on their blue-green patch And all of the things that they did Cannot be taken back Prophesize Split my sides Blown away I think that it must be said The end isn't when we're dead Those sparkles of energy Are absorbed by the you and the me And all of the things that we did And all of the things that we said Cannot be taken back No, they cannot be taken back Open wide Look inside Don't turn away The sign in the road that we share Can prove that there's someone out there The light that we thought we could own Is nobody else's to loan And all of the light that we shine To try and restrain the dark tide Should never be taken back No, it should never be taken back

Very well thought out song, Tom. You say you don't pay too much attention to lyrics but these were excellent. Only wish, once again, you'd paid more attention to the stereo separation on the instrument tracks...can easily see why you decided to revisit this piece, it is well worth putting some more effort into. You've got a winner here if you're willing to pursue it! OrdLinc
