She took me for a ride
Comment Share
I write all kinds of music from gospel to country, comedy to childrens songs as well as instrumentals. I play guitar (acoustic and lead) and sing with a count
I was born in the mid 1950's, and began playing guitar when I was 14 years old. I have played with many of the early (70's & 80's)country singers. I wrote my first song when I was 15 and now have over 120, from gospel to country. I love the challenge of writing a song that people can relate to, yet to say it in a brand new way. I play with a local group called Common Bond and jam whenever I can find some others pickers.

Lyrics
We’d been mad for a week or more, not really even talking, I let her know I’d had enough, even contemplated walking. When I came home from work that night, she said hey I’m still your wife. So get your butt back in that truck, we’re going for a little ride. She said get in and buckle up and don’t you say a word, I wondered where she was taking me as we rounded every curve. Then she turned down that old gravel road that leads to Caney creek, She parked the truck, said undo that belt, slide over here by me. Chorus Stars were dancin’ on the water, the lover’s moon was shining bright. We could feel the magic in the air, just like it was on our first night. She pulled me close said I’m in love with you; I won’t give up without a fight. She sure turned our love around, when she took me for a ride. 3 I rush home from work each day, so I can hold her close, I send her cards and flowers now, just makin’ sure she knows. Everything she means to me and what happened on that night, She saw our love was dying, so she took me for a ride. Doug York (c)2006
