a mix of ska with funk jazz punk and hardcore
Jam Sesh Rejects are a ska punk band from the ghetto of Sandbach. We have been playing together since July 2005 with a few changes to the line up. We decided to start a band initially to get some sort of ska punk scene in Sandbach, but soon decided to adopt a more serious approach to the idea of making the band into something more than a pass-time. Our town has a huge poppunk and emo crowd, so gigs were becoming quite dull - all bands became very similar. We aim to produce a sound that is new and exciting for a wide range of audiences. Over the years we have lost many members - most through contradictions in taste (many a member wanted to follow the crowd and turn emo) - but Pollard refused to conform to the stereotypical 'yank-skater-rock' style band, and Seb and himself decided to rope in some new members to start a revolution in our quiet market town. Mash replaced the old singer, swapping her guitar for front-woman fame. We recently picked up a sax player - Floody. On drums - Chunk (who originally said he didn't wanna be in the band because he was 'not good enough'). James " Skafunkel" Pollard was never much fond of rhythm guitar, so took up bass. And how could we forget Seb, the man on lead with his screaming licks. Our approach to writing is to produce music that gets people moving; we love to see the crowd enjoying our songs and dancing to our teeowns. Each song has different appeal to different people, as we aim to please as many people at our gigs as we can. We our influenced by many styles and genres, trying to combine harder metal and punk sounds with more mellow dub and reggae beats to produce music that is both easy listening and powerful in its delivery. Our hard hitting sound allows us to protest our views about the evils that lurk in society unnoticed - vanity, drug abuse, assault... to name but a few. We also enjoy to promote a positive attitude towards life, employing more up-beat ska and reggae sounds to get some sunshine into the darkness of our predominantly hardcore sets. Tunes such as 'Who Hit Me?' and 'There's a Party in your Mouth...' aim to raise awareness of such injustices that occur on a daily basis and yet nothing is done to prevent them. 'Coming in Fourth' and 'Pizza on a Snare' on the other hand aim to illustrate the importance of self asteem, positive outlook, not letting the words of others get you down or change you - being happy and smiling in the face of adversity. One of the keys to our varying style and constantly changing sound is the wide variety of taste to be found amongst our players, but a common love of ska punk is ripe in everyone. Well thats us... We look forward to getting some decent gigs in the future and hope to see as many fans offering their support. If you've never heard us, come along - we hope we provide something for everyone and our live performances our fuelled with an intimate interations with our fans - without them we have nothing, cheers to you all............
