Prog Rock Keyboardist, Instrumental Rock, Fusion Jazz
This is Bill Rebsamen, keyboardist and songwriter for the Christian prog rock band Young Earth. www.youngearth.net This Soundclick site will host songs mostly from my pre-Young Earth songwriting and from new music solo ventures whenever they arise. I'm always writing original music and I love for anyone to listen and provide feedback. Need a keyboard part? I'd love to collaborate with other prog bands who might need keyboard parts as my schedule allows. To listen to some synth lead samples check out a few of my "Instant Noodles". These are music clips that focus directly on the synth solo. Look for the pic of the keyboard cooking instant noodles! :-) When I say I love progressive rock, I mean as a passion since childhood! When I was 7, the Welk family from England moved into our neighborhood in Fort Smith, Arkansas. The oldest boy, Robert, quickly introduced me to Rick Wakeman's album "Journey to the Center of the Earth" and then patiently taught me how to say the word "synthesizer" (a mouthful for any 7 year old!). As any avid prog rock fan knows, prog music speaks to my heart and deeply affects me as a musician. This is music you can feel!

Story behind the song
This tune came to me not long after the death of my teenage son, Aaron, May 23, 2002. A lot of things in my own life were brought into perspective. His death is now the most major landmark in my life. It seems now that everything in my life happened either before or after Aaron died. I had to be there for my family. I was rocked with sorrow but there still had to be signs of hope. I'm the husband and father of my little family. I had to lead us forward. The tune, I hope, engages a thoughtful presence in the beginning and then kicks into a second stage after the bridge. Sometimes its that second stage in life thats the hardest to attain. Joe Satriani and Eric Johnson's influence seem to surface in this particular song. As a keyboardist who does not play guitar at all I am highly influenced by keyboardists like Jan Hammer, Derek Sherinian and by the melodic and tonal diversity of Joe, Eric and other great guitarists. Interesting sidenote: On the very same day Aaron died, a special package arrived at my house. In the weeks before I had entered a contest to win a Korg Z1 synth to be given away on Jan Hammer's website (celebrating Jan's new site and the release of Jan's extended Miami Vice music CDs). I've never won anything in my life but I won this synth from Jan Hammer - one of my all-time heros! I called home that day and Aaron teased me that the package did not arrive... then he furthered my dilema by telling me it had arrived and that he had it out and was eating a brownie over it and had a coke sitting on top of it! Ha! A jokester till the end. Just an hour later Aaron passed away. It was weeks before I even got around to opening the package. This was the first song I wrote after Aaron's death. Jan Hammer's Korg Z1 synth was used for the incredible guitar sound from the middle of the song out. The Z1 also produced the little arppegiated loop that surfaces throughout the beginning of the song. Thank you Jan for this beautiful synth - a ray of hope on a dark day. Music has been a big part of my healing. For more info: www.aaronrebsamen.com www.getseriousproject.com
Lyrics
This song has lyrics in the works and will one day be included on a Young Earth concept album dealing with ideas about linear time (the element of time we live in as opposed to eternity).
