Story behind the song
I recently caught a news interview with Jimmy Buffett (again) and possibly even HE doesn't realize just how far his influence extends...in any given town, state, country, (planet?) there exists a 'Jimmy Buffett's Brother' in one form or the other..
Lyrics
JIMMY BUFFETT'S BROTHER Way down here a guy I know does a little one man show he sings alot of songs I know I think he might be Jimmy Buffett's brother Afternoons he hangs around where the tourists go downtown and hopes they'll throw some money down and hear a song from Jimmy Buffett's Brother Evenings at the Club Del Mar he shows up to play guitar keep the tourists in the bar and sing along with Jimmy Buffett's brother Feast or famine is the rule every year he plays it cool 'til all the kids on break from school come and look for Jimmy Buffett's brother No one knows just where he's from no ones sure when he showed up sometimes lots of people come sometimes its an empty cup but still he occupies a limb on Mother Ocean's family tree and though he may not look like Jim they say he looks a lot like me So for now I guess we'll stay and write that perfect song someday I love that ocean anyway Me and you and Jimmy Buffett's brother
