A rather dark protest song, written back in 1994, sadly relevant still today, perhaps even more so.

Folk-Rock Classic Protest Music
I'm a solo recording artist, long-time songwriter, musician, and audio engineer, trying to use the power of music to raise awareness and inspire others to make a positive difference, with their life and through their Art. Over the past ten years or so, I have completed and self-released five solo albums, and am working on another one. My style is mostly Classic Protest Folk-Rock. I tend to address what I consider to be the larger themes of our existence, rather than writing from a first-person or fictional perspective, or writing about partying, fast cars, girls, etc. (of course, there is a place for those things, but there are plenty of songs like that already, yes?) Although I have worked with many "big names" and Grammy winners as a live-sound engineer, I write, play, and record all my original music by myself, for better or worse. Thanks for listening. (Audio engineer with over thirty years experience, has mixed FOH (Front of House) for such artists as: Jesse Colin Young, Randy Newman, Shawn Colvin, Commander Cody, B.B. King, Richie Havens, Arlo Guthrie, Leo Kotke, Chuck Mangione, Hal Ketchum, John Sebastian, Jim Messina, Charlie Musselwhite, Del McCoury, Michele Schocked, Michael Martin Murphy, Stanley Jordan, Kevin Cole, Tommy Emmanuel, Peter Cincotti, Leon Redbone, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Shemekia Copeland, Jackie Greene, Lisa Loeb, Karla Bonhoff, Crash Test Dummies, Poco, Dan Fogelberg, Edwin McCain, George Winston, CJ Chenier, Maia Sharp, David Grisman, Michael W. Lyrics
IS IT TIME c 1994 Ed Billeaud Is it time for us to take that step Is it time to leave behind All the fear and greed and jealousy All the wars and hate and crime It is time for us to look beyond What our eyes can merely see It it time for us to comprehend Is it time for you and me Is it time? Well, I've been living in this world And I've been thinking hard About our place in outer space Out here among the stars And I've been wondering what it takes And when we'll realize What it is that we have missed In the way we live our lives Yeah I've been told from early on That nothing's cast in stone And yet the things that each day brings Just chill me to the bone All the killing and the cheating And the lies behind the smiles Don't you want to live in peace, My brothers, is it time? We put our faith in all the things That money seems to buy And we've bought in to high-priced sin Without stopping to ask why Our lives are run by machines and men Who tell us what to think We sacrifice our days and nights While we totter towards the brink The style to which we've grown accustomed Destroys what it consumes The day will come when we'll block the sun With our poison-spewing plumes And we keep running in the treadmill Or dropping out of sight How much longer until we wonder My brothers, is it time?
