Story behind the song
Lascelles celebrates the park in London NW2 in which he practices on sax everyday. Our man delves into his inner self and emerges with a big band jazz sound, complete with a theme that is stated and restated with subtle shifts and decorations that come straight out of Cab Calloway, or Count Basie, or Duke Ellington, or any one of the great big bands in the jazz tradition. Sax and keyboard skip along over a baseline held by the snare and the entire piece swings.
