Gladys Carter Mitchell Born in Lone Oak, Texas, and the only girl in the musically talented, Carter family. Everyone played an instrument. 1) Dad: Harmonica 2) Mom: Harmonica and Organ 3) Brother Arthur: Mandolin 4) Brother Leon: Guitar 5) Brother Wayne: Lead Guitar (You’ll see many Wayne Carter songs on this website) Of course growing up with these guys, Gladys had to join in or be left behind. At a young age she was performing in Churches, Family Reunions, Home Comings, etc. She sang on a religious radio program for several years. From there she went into writing and recording, including Gospel and Love songs. Life is full of music she sez: "Without it, this world would be a sad place". Loves to harmonize and do back up. Each song she writes is inspired from a true story and puts her whole heart into it! In 1999 Gladys was honored with the, AMERICAN HORIZON AWARD, presented by Treasure Coast Records. The American Horizon Award recognizes leadership in promoting the vitality and independence of American media and communications.
