Story behind the song
Being a fan of director Mike Leigh, I’ve used more than a few of character ‘Candice-Marie Pratts’ quotes from the Dorset based 1976 play ‘Nuts in May’. The title is original however. The second song recorded for the album and the basic guitar and vocal track is the original demo.
Lyrics
Verse 1 A gentle breeze is in the air Among the ruins you stand stare If these walls could tell a tale What do you think you’d hear Chorus Imagine how it was to be Kings and Queens in all their finery Drinking wine from goblets made of gold Must have been a sight to behold Verse 2 The table’s full when you’re above the salt The fires are burning, spit roasting pork Big bowls of fruit and lushous grapes What if they could come back and see Chorus Verse 3 The castle's in ruins, it can bearly stand On the top of the hill, looking over the sands Litter’s blowing all around What do you think they’d say Chorus x 2
