One of my earlier arrangements (recorded April 2005, the first arrangement with my 'new' Kurzweil after trading in my Alesis) of a song I wrote in 1995. This was my first recording to sound half-way decent.
Just me, a synth and a computer...
Story behind the song
Unfortunately I didn't record the date I wrote this song but thinking back it must have been around summer of 1995. It was inspired by the feel of Pearl Jam's "Elderly Woman Behind the Counter..."
Lyrics
Left him behind
He could not keep the pace
She would not wait for him -
Didn't care he needed to learn
"Don't be angry, don't hate me
I'm just a boy
If what I wanted only counted
For something"
Every eye he looks into
He's not sure what he sees
Every smile - ridiculing laughter
For all he knows
"If only I were able to
Simply 'be'
This is not what
I intended"
All her questions -
Riddles for his reeling mind
And all her answers -
Ruthless jokes
"This must surely be damnation
I must be in hell
My demon -
Uncertainty
This is not what
I had wanted
If what I wanted only counted
For something"
