I woke up in the night
and heard a reaping noise
Like a raging bull
let loose in the hall
It sounded like
the Devil’s laugh
Being clearly
dispersed over it all
alarms were silent
as engulfed by flame
While it crackled
over the roof in game
It licked the walls changing from green to red
Making all the colours the same
Through the window I could see freedom
But the fire was calling me to its kingdom
I moved from my place
and ran from the room
and I tripped like a fool on the stair
It roared and twirled
as it caught up with me
Then its tendrils of flame
ripped my hair
A door on its hinges was hard to see
But I stayed in heat to try and plea
It screamed and burned as in pain and fun
But I could not think to turn and run
