Story behind the song
A simple song about my faith.
Lyrics
The Light
Patricia Baker, BMI/Rick Keane©2006
I’m a world weary warrior
Must’ve sailed ten thousand miles
In life’s storms I’ve lost direction
And sought the safety of sin’s isle
I caught a glimpse of a lighthouse
Beckoning me to rest my bones
Felt hopeless in troubled waters
It was the light that brought me home
I can see the Light
That welcomes me once more
Like ten thousand candles
Held by angels on the shore
It’s that mesmerizing
Heart and soul reviving light
In my prime I fired the cannons
Smoke and black powder burned my eyes
And that youth was my salvation
I was just too naive to die
To vultures circling overhead
The stench of death smells so sweet
But, the light of experience
Waved home the faith hidden in me
Repeat Chorus
