Lyrics
I met Jackie O’Ireland late one night And we started drinkin At a pub out on Hastings st In front of O’Gradys we were sittin She told me that my music was shit And it started me thinking All those old Irish Songs what are they worth When you’re alone and dreamin (Chorus) Whiskey in the Jar and the Black Velvet Band Come out you black and tans There was something about her that I couldn’t place Oh, Jackie O’Ireland Well she showed up one week later And she bought me a pint I couldn’t tell if she felt sorry for me Or just liked my music that night Time had passed and I saw her again In the middle of the day at the Brazen Head We started drinkin she told me of Ireland I had to admit I was only descent (Chorus) It was rainin that night when I wrote her song I drank and laughed all night long She lived to take the piss out of me I couldn’t pretend I was still fond of Jackie O’Ireland (Chorus)
