Lyrics
Remember Liverpool (2005) I can’t forget the night we spent And though we kept things innocent I can’t shake feeling that I bent the rules somehow And when I’m in the North again I’ll look for you, dear Gwendolyn And hope that you remember Liverpool Underneath the evening’s smoke We listened, laughed and softly spoke Of children, dreams and hearts that broke before and then With something like a saddened eye You took my hand and said goodbye And left me with a memory to adore Morning crept into our conversation And left me the unsettling sensation That while I’d hoped my life complete I’d simply failed just yet to meet A woman who could truly understand England’s always held my fascination But now I fear you’ve made it something more You lent your kind and loving face So full of light, so full of grace To what was then a strange and foreign land Remember Liverpool, the seaside air Remember Liverpool, the night we dared to fall Remember Liverpool, and all we shared Remember that I loved you... there Committed men perhaps should keep their distance But something that night lowered my resistance To charms you gave so effortless I really had no choice, I guess But to madly, deeply, fully fall I have no illusions about the future I know we’ll likely never meet again But there’s a room within my heart Reserved for beauty, love and art There “Gwendolyn” is carved upon the wall CHORUS
