Lyrics
So, you ready for a good drunk? Are ya one f the 34 million Irsh decents ready to toast your heritage? How did such a lampoon of a holiday slip through the PC cracks of society anyway? I mean, it's not like a great man roamed the earth resuscitating imperiled lives with his alcoholism?? He Didn’t even start a war—and that’s ALWAYS been a good start for a praised leader. Every year, the numbers of drunk driving deaths boggle the mind, only to get belittled by a day of imbibery known as St Patrick's Day. Why? Who was this great Patrick, and why do we celebrate him with alcohol? Well, basically, St. Patrick was a normal teenager until he was repeatedly jailed & enslaved, until an epiphany, and not the kind that induces alcohol consumption on a binge basis. The not-so funny part is that not only was Patrick NOT a very religious man, it has even been suggested that he took on the role of deacon for tax purposes. So how does one of the most intelligent nations in the world get so duped on a National Celebration. Well, to begin with, we’re unfortunately NOT one of the smartest nations in the world, and if you need proof, you need to look no further than the Constitution of the United States. On a day when 34 million people celebrate their ancestry with no reason other than the title of a day, it seems to me something's amiss in a society where more people can name the three American Idol judges than identify three First Amendment rights, and 1 of every 5 thought the right to own a pet was protected. That’s not funny. That’s just sick. Of the 1000 people USA TODAY polled last week, only (1) could name all (5) First Amendment freedoms, Here’s an idea, how bout putting down your pint for a night, and Google the internet for the latest Oil Spill in Alaska…you know, 2nd largest?! …haven’t heard? Hmm, I wonder why…
