Story behind the song
Religion and spirituality are issues that have driven me to question the very merit of my being. This music was created as a simultaneous expression of awe and anger. I wanted sounds that were ugly and beautiful. Recorded live on a not-so-great mic, which perhaps adds to the piece. It has been explained to me that religion contributes to an awareness of being part of something bigger than oneself. This is perhaps the most thrilling and scary thing I can think of. The music was created using off-beat layers of heavily distorted guitar, and brief wave-shapes processed through sequencing and delay patches in Pure Data.
