Wrote it about my long distance relationship with my fiancee which shouldn't be LD much long!
Larry Lauer
I've been dabbling in songwriting for about 25 years, ever since I started playing in a band. In the past few years I've gotten a little more serious about it and I enjoy the the idea of creating something from my experiences. Whether personal or from an external source, I like to see my thoughts go from paper to a recorded product. I've been having a lot of fun trying to produce my own music. I'm not into performing my own music so much anymore, but I would like to see it get out there for others to hear.
Story behind the song
This was written on a Saturday morning waiting for my fiancee to call. Anybody that has a long distance relationship can probably relate to the feeling of waiting to hear from your loved one and then hearing the phone ring... :)
Lyrics
The Phone Call
(Larry Lauer)
TV’s blaring, the coffee’s on, I’m sittin’ in my old chair
Haven’t shaved and haven’t changed, my favorite cotton pair
Pickin’ my guitar, watchin’ ‘toons, like a man without a care
Listenin’ for that telephone ring, it’s magical I swear
Chorus
It’s the phone…call, that brightens up my day
It’s the phone…call, whenever I hear her say
That she loves…me! Just wanna yell…hey!
It’s the phone…call, I’d like you here some day
Writing words, playing chords, never get uptight
Tuning strings, on my balcony, everything’s all right
Sun is shining, getting warm, pour another coffee
Another song, in my head, I know she’s calling me
Chorus…Lead Break
Bridge
Late night, lunch time, early in the morning
Twilight, starlight, what’s that sound I’m hearin’
Chorus Twice
