This one just came to me on the Fourth of July in 1996.
Lyrics

WITHOUT FREEDOM:

© 1996 by Lydia Glider-Shelley
Verse 1:
On the Fourth of July, there’s fireworks going off in the streets… And I really wonder, how many remember what it’s all about.
We take freedom for granted, but if we didn’t choose to be free:
And fight for our honor, even through uncertainty and doubt…
Chorus:
Where would we be? (without freedom)
And under whose rule? (without freedom)
It’s something that we (without freedom)
Were all taught in school (about freedom)

Verse 2:
All the displays are beautiful sights to behold,
You hear the thunder, and people who cheer,
Or scream and shout…
Most of the time, it seems we all forget what we’re told:
And the celebrator doesn’t even recall
what we could be living without…

(repeat chorus)
Verse 3:
If we don’t act right now, we may not have a choice anymore. And all of our children could be in bondage for eternity… It’s a mother’s hope, that her family have joy in store:
For the distant future, and the present time would bring prosperity!
(repeat chorus)
tag: Without freedom, where would we be?
