Story behind the song
I grew up in Ohio, near Cincinnati…we rarely had snow for Christmas. From 1984 to the present I have resided in Hollywood, Florida. It’s nice to wear shorts and a tank top, barefoot, in December, but Christmas makes me yearn for snow!
Lyrics

I WANT TO GO WHERE IT SNOWS FOR CHRISTMAS:

© 1998 by Lydia Glider - Shelley
Chorus:
I want to go where it snows for Christmas:
even if I have to sacrifice!
If I could go where it snows for Christmas...
that would be my kind of paradise!
Verse 1:
When the sun comes up
it lights the crystal - coated world
with brilliant fire!
And children come out to play: there’s no school
because of snow today!
Building forts to have a snowball fight,
or sled and ski while there is light!
Bridge:
It’s a sight I long to see... so do, please, humor me:
(when I say)
(repeat chorus)
Verse 2:
When the sun goes down
the moonlight’s glow is gentle
on the blanketed world...
and lovers snuggle by fires:
sharing all their secret desires...
Have a cup of hot chocolate,
I get goosebumps at the thought of it!
bridge:
It’s a hope I’ve had so long...
dreamin’ can never be wrong!
(so)
(repeat chorus)
