This song was recorded live at an outdoor gig with just acoustic 12-string (actually a Line6 Variax on 12-string accoustic setting!)and vox without any overdubs. Some pops and ambient crowd noise and misplaced notes, but it is what it is.

Born and raised as a Catholic, my walk with the Lord has taken me on a quite a journey the past 42 years of my life. Through it all, His loving arms have carried me. Sometimes with me kicking and screaming for Him to let go and more often than not, without my awareness or recognition that He was indeed carrying me. In the last 11 years, He has revealed Himself to me in stunning and humbling ways. And I'm grateful for the "ride". The journey continues.

Story behind the song
Inspired by Matthew 9:23-27, I wrote this song as a "traditional" hymn using the story of Jesus calming the angry seas and storms on the sea of Galilee as a metaphor for how He can calm the storms and tempestuous emotions of our own lives if we will only reach out to Him.
Lyrics
When my emotions get the best of me I'm like a ship that's far from shore Lost on an ocean of uncertainty where clouds of doubt obscure my hope Say to the angry seas, "Be Still!" Call to the raging winds, "Blow Not!" Command the tempest and the storm and there will be great calm within my soul Waves of resentment knock me overboard My pride's a stone around my neck Reach out Your hand, won't you, Precious Lord For I have failed to save myself Say to the angry seas, "Be Still!" Call to the raging winds, "Blow Not!" Command the tempest and the storm and there will be great calm within my soul Command the tempest and the storm and there will be great calm within my soul
