Story behind the song
I call this Trumpets only because this is my first attempt at writing for them. This piece is in Gmin. I found that if you have two trumpets playing and you hold the top note and change the bottom note up or down you get a bending effect. I use this more in the beginning build up. There is as many as 6 Trumpet on different lines going at once. I didn’t want to use drums so I use two muted guitars each playing a different modified section that the trumpets play. This gives a feel of hand drums. The four bars just before the trumpets go up to the end of the first section is what I feel is the best part of the piece. I do not play the key boards, that is why the key boards sound a bit weak. I use a repeating bass that I stole from the first four bars of “Newly Aged in Minor” piece. When I want a free feel to the piece I shift the bass part over by an eight note to give it an unfocused sound then I shift it back to drive the changes. The last part was my attempt to have the trumpets and the keyboard playing in different keys with the bass tying them together. One thing I learned was to never be afraid of dissonant notes.
