Story behind the song
Sad that spousal abuse is still so common in our society. A song about a woman who has had enough. A close friend of mine went through this ordeal and I saw first hand how the American court system can victimize the victims. Although my friend never actually had a gun, she charged her husband with first degree murder and threw him in jail for a long time. She has recreated her life and I'm proud of her.
Lyrics
Woman, Where’d You Get That Gun © Lulu, Castro, Rocha He's a dream come true Found the love I never knew Said I'll treat you like a queen Took my hand with his ring I watched the changes unfold His jealous anger took hold Frustration spoke with his fists Apologized with a kiss CHORUS Woman, where'd you get that gun Woman, make that man run Woman, don't take it anymore Woman, you've got to show him to the door He says it's always my fault Sometimes he's out of control How hard I try to believe He'll change his ways just for me Love knows this heartache and pain When did the dream slip away?
