How old values and new values have come to differ.
I'm an acapella singer
Hello, I am a lyricist who enjoys singing. I sing in acapella. I live in Wisconsin. I am looking for someone to collaborate my music with. Anybody who may be interested can contact me via my e-mail address.
Story behind the song
This song is about how easily we proclaim friendship when friendship hasn't really been earned. How people tend to take for granted what they do and say as acceptable. In short, how yesterday's values have been forgotten today.
Lyrics
OLD SCHOOLED
©2006 DAVID Z. MORONEZ
(V1)
Oh look at you, who do you think you are
Organizing trouble with those near and far
People that came here came to have a good time
Dirt they're push'n came from your side of the line
You can call them crazy, you can call me old fool
Baby don't you know, I am old schooled
(1st build)
Oh yeah (I'm telling you)
Oh yeah, yeah
I am old schooled
(Chorus)
Where we've learned to watch what we say and do
Morality taught pure and true
Friendship we'd have to earn in order to win
Wasn't something just whirling in the wind
(Reprise)
But, oh, baby, no baby that isn't true with you
For you it's more like picking shoes
Nothing wrong with choosing friends like that
If it weren't for childish acts
(V2)
Oh wow look at you, you think you're a star
Riding other people as if they were cars
Honking your horn acting without shame
Just cuz they won't join in your game
Say they're merely gestures, I'll call them what I know
Dirty immature..... innuendos
(2nd build)
Repeat (innuendos)
Oh Yeah repeat
Cuz I'm old schooled
(Chorus)
Where we've learned to watch what we say and do
Morality taught pure and true
Friendship we'd have to earn in order to win
Wasn't something just whirling in the wind
(Reprise)
But, oh, baby, no baby that isn't true with you
For you it's more like picking shoes
Nothing wrong with choosing friends like that
If it weren't for childish acts
(Bridge)
Now baby don't you get mad at me
From what I say honestly
Not that I don't want you as a friend
It's just that I'm ahhhh.... OLD SCHOOLED...
(ooooooo-old schooled)
(Chorus)
Where we've learned to watch what we say and do
Morality taught pure and true
Friendship we'd have to earn in order to win
Wasn't something just whirling in the wind
(Reprise)
But, oh, baby, no baby that isn't true with you
For you it's more like picking shoes
Nothing wrong with choosing friends like that
If it weren't for childish acts
(outtro)
Oh yeah,
Oh, yeah-yeah
I am old schooled.
Oh yeah,
Oh, yeah-yeah
I am old schooled.
Oh yeah,
Oh, yeah-yeah
I am old schooled.
