Roman Jazz Part 1

What kind of music would composers living back in the glory days of the old Roman Empire come up with if they had access to mid-1980 music technology? Is this piece one possibility?

This music was all completely improvised on synthesizers and samplers back in 1983 and 1984, by Arnie Stanton and Tim Fluarty. We thought of it as the dark and foreboding side of "New Age" music. You may be rather surprised about the wide pallete of colors and styles the songs produced. For more music by Arnie Stanton, consider visiting his music page.

Story behind the song
What motived us to write this? Well, it wasn't money or love. It certainly was not digestable by anyone we knew at the time, but it appears that people these days are more open to such off-beat compositions. Don't be surprised if you find your self joining in on the marching parts.
